Things are looking great in the blockchain world. Token prices are up, NFT trading volume is up, active player numbers are up! And we still have plenty of ongoing development, upcoming tournaments with big prizes, and a major change to one of the largest NFT games! Let’s take a look at what’s been happening this past week.
Bored Ape Yacht Club was the big news this week with their Sewer Pass NFTs seeing an insane amount trading volume (almost $34 million!). These Sewer Passes open up access to Dooky Dash, a game that lets players mint a special Power Source NFT based on their highest score.
The crypto tokens markets saw another big surge this week, and the web3 active playerbase and NFT trading volumes followed suit. Everything looks pretty rosy at the moment! And though that could change at any moment, what won’t change are two upcoming gaming tournaments with big prizes. These are the Cometh Galactic Masters and the Mojo Melee Mojo Bowl. Both are free to join and will have lead-up events as qualifiers for the main contests.
In other news, Splinterlands plans to make their reward cards account-bound, potentially reducing interest in the game for lower-level players. This change should go into effect at the end of the month. Also, Big Time reveals details about their upcoming airdrop, Champions Ascension plans their Eternals mint, and more!

Top play-to-earn games by active users
Big playerbase surges from the top games this week. Alien Worlds and Splinterlands continue to dominate. While both Planet IX and Benji Bananas solidify their positions and look to be here to stay!
And we see an overall increase in the number of active web3 players. Last week, 30k active users was enough to get into the top 10 list. This week it’s 38k! I expect that barrier to increase to 50k over the coming months.
WAM is our new entrant this week. WAM is a suite of simple mobile games that allows players to earn crypto in the form of WAM tokens by playing in tournaments. I’m not sure why their userbase numbers would have surged so much this past week. And according to their official Twitter account, their latest tournament only included ~3300 players. So I consider the numbers this week somewhat suspicious. We’ll see if they can maintain this activity or if it is just a temporary anomaly.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club continues to make waves in the NFT scene. This week it’s from the Sewer Pass NFTs for their minting-related game called Dooky Dash. This game is only available temporarily, and the passes were so popular that the trading volume for these NFTs exceeded the next two projects combined!
All in all, the BAYC ecosystem holds the top 4 spots, and 5 out of the top 10!
The Mutant Hounds and their Collars both drop off the charts this week, making room for two new projects. a KID called BEAST is a digital brand PFP collection which is ‘AR-Ready’. And despite some troubles with their mint this past week, their collection seems to be extremely popular. The second new entry, The Memes by 6529 is a mem-related NFT project.
